See more about this pub on WhatPub, CAMRA's national pub guide.

A traditional two bar but greatly extended village pub with real fires and a friendly atmosphere making it the meeting place for many local groups. It is located at the foot of the Zig Zag path carved by famous naturalist Gilbert White and which gives its name to the annual Zig Zag Festival held in early October. On entering the pub turn right for the cosy Hanger Bar or left for the ZigZag Bar divided into a number of separate drinking areas and a restaurant beyond. Up to three guest beers often come from local microbreweries. Beer bats offering three thirds of any cask beer for the price of a pint are available. The extensive menu showcase local and home-made produce with vegetarian and gluten free options. The safe play area in the huge garden is popular with children: in late winter the garden is carpeted with snowdrops. From February until autumn 2024 public access will be improved by diversion of the 13 bus route trough the village as a result of road closures elsewhere.
